Hi everybody! I posted on Davis Square a few days ago about jogging with other people, and there was a huge response. So I figured that maybe we could all resurrect this page and be happy joggers together? I am planning on going for a light jog (with perhaps some walking involved) with "brianbos" later on this evening, around 6:30. I think we are meeting in the square and going from there. If anyone reads this, you are welcome to come along!

I'll join too!

I'd be really interested in joining you for runs. I live on the corner of Elm and Willow. Whats the plan for continued runs??

Re: I'll join too!

No plan, although I would like to go 4 times a week. Last night was a success, aside from the fact that my running part was obviously in better shape than me. He hid his annoyance with my "walk breaks" very well though. I plan on posting the in the mornings on days I plan to jog in the evenings to see if anyone will join me. Unless someone has a better plan...

Re: I'll join too!

Actually, a group of colleagues and I carpool to work together. We set up a shared google calender for the group and the driver creates an 'event' for the day that they will drive. Then the riders who would like a ride those days provide comments under the event so the driver will know to look for them at the meeting spot.

All this is to say, the davis_ramblers could have an agreed upon meeting location and host a shared calender for runners to sign up each day when they would like to go and how far. Pretty informal, but allows you to know who to look for and when folks are heading out.

Re: I'll join too!

There certainly could be one, though I'm more likely to actually look here than there, especially for last-minute planning.

We need to re-plug this comm over in the mail d_s community to remind people that it's here and see if folks start using it now that it's getting to be the season again. I'd say waiting til Monday at this point would be good, since a lot of people don't read LJ over the weekend. I can do the plug unless someone else feels strongly about it.

Re: I'll join too!

That sounds good, as you were the one who started it in the first place. There was a big response to my original post on d_s, so I think that people will begin to use ramblers again. Anyone up for jog in the early evening tonight?

walking/jogging at Dilboy

I saw this on the city's website. Don't know if people are interested, but the advantage would be that people don't have to start together at the same time, but can meet up as they arrive.

The Somerville Recreation Commission is offering community walking/jogging nights at Dilboy Stadium. The track will be available on Mon & Wed evenings from 6:00 – 8:00pm starting April 7th. Dilboy offers a safe place to walk, there is plenty of parking and restrooms are available. Lace up your sneakers and get out and enjoy the spring weather. For more information contact the Recreation Department at 617-625-6600 x 2980.
